One of the biggest food Bonanzas of the country in Delhi. Yes I am talking about the Grub fest. It’s a three day celebration of the city’s favorite snacks. The festival is a perfect-dream-come true for all foodies. It’s the perfect joint for all around entertainment and pleasure. Along with music shows, prominent and upcoming restaurant and a host of performing artists have come together under a single roof at JAWAHAR LAL NEHRU (JLN) STADIUM in the capital.
The level of food served seems to go up another notch with every edition of the Grub Fest. Last weekend, Delhi got to enjoy the fourth edition-The first Grub Fest of this year. City biggies like Banta bar, Karim’s, Cafe Hera pheri, Imperfect, and Uncle jack’s in attendance, people got taste of many cuisines.
Some new additions this year were Tippling Street, CJ’s Fresh, Bombay Brunch, Milkshake and Co and The Maratha Spread.
Food & Music- Get the best of both Worlds
Apart from being food hub the grub fest also guarantees mind blowing Entrainment throughout the span of the festival. This year also there was an amazing line up ,including the likes of Indeep Bakshi, Tatva K, Hari and Sukhmani, Udit Sehgal, Bally sago, Zephyr and many more. The live music and the fun challenges ensured that the entertainment quotient remained high throughout the festival.
The show stoppers were definitely Dj Anish Sood on the first ,day bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela on the second and bollywood singer Akhil Sachdeva on the Final day.
DJ Anish Sood is one of the most sought after dj’s in the country when it comes to the Indian Electronic Music scene. He has been around for over eight years now and is definitely one of the best talents this country has seen in this field. The audience couldn’t help but dance to his tunes while devouring the delicacies on their plates. It definitely was a treat to watch him showcase his talent live.
Day 2 of The Grub Fest was graced by the Bollywood Diva Urvashi Rautela. The actress entertained the crowd by participating in a cookout. She cooked a burger and one lucky fan had the opportunity to relish the burger cooked by the actress. There was also a meet and greet organized where the fans got to meet her in person. Urvashi presence at the festival upped the glam quotient quite a bit.
Day 3 was headlined by the lead vocalist of the renowned band Nasha- Akhil Sachdeva. He also made his recent bollywood debut with the song “Humsafar”. Akhil’s soulful voice had everyone swaying to his tunes. Akhil had everyone mesmerized with his amazing line up.
AN EXTRA TREAT
The Grub fest was even more extravagant with engaging experience at The Grub Theatre, a section dedicated for chefs to perform demos of their favourite dishes and cooking techniques. As the name suggests, the place also screened some food related films and documentaries. The Grub Market, just like a street market which showcased gourmet products from upcoming brands.
In the crowd of over hundreds of restaurants, there were few who really stood up and a-must-visit. It includes both big wheels and offbeat.
We could not resist on spotting UNCLE JACK’s. Pink trio burgers, cheesy creamy fries with a delighted taste. A pinch of salt and pepper really upped the dish. Yummy treat to tummy.
We next spotted INDIAN SAFFRON CO. – For hardcore North Indian buffs, their non veg sampler with succulent tikkas melt in your mouth. Kebab and classic rolls with a crispy outside and generous ego dressing. Wash it down with their classic nimbu Shikanji.
Then we Headed towards THE MARATHA SPREAD– An offbeat cafe who stole our heart. Simple elegant food with authentic taste. Vada pav, sabudana kachori with green chutney gives us food goals. We end the meal with ‘Dhaniya pakoda’ coriander fried balls dipped with green chilly souce as i can still feel the taste and looking forward to try it again.
How can someone end the day without Desserts. So we decided to try sweet and perfect Chocolate waffles and crepes . It was crispy on the outside and extremely soft and yielding on the inside, which is why you can’t resist it. And thankfully it wasn’t excessively sweet.
Fun Feast Challenge
The massive burger challenge was just one of the highlights of the grub fest Dev runs his cafe in Chandigarh nut he was at the Grub Fest because a little more exposure doesn’t hurt anyone. His challenge did scare us a bit. It’s a meaty 1.8KG burger that you have gulp down. The challenge is that you complete that burger in 12 minutes if you are going solo, 6 minutes each if you are two people participating. The award is that the burger becomes free, you get a free tee and Rs 500 cash. It’s an attractive challenge, but it’s not easy at all.
All in all Grub Fest 2017 was a grand success wherein foodies from all over Delhi and NCR attended the biggest food festival of India on multiple days. Kudos to the organisers for making the grub fest bigger and better year by year. Adios grub fest 2017…. can’t wait to see you again next year!
